Closing Ceremony with „Table Music”

This year’s festival ending includes a unique live experience of a legendary concert – „Table Music” by Thierry De Mey, accompanied by a film adaptation. The highlight of a week-lasting event will be hypnotizing, rhythmic and perfectly choreographed.
Thierry De Mey is a compositor and a film director, who engages movement as a mean to trigger unprecedented experiences in his viewers. With a perfect choreography fitted to the music, as well as to the image, De Mey creates suggestive rhythms, physically experienced by both the performer and the viewer.
Film adaptation of this unique concert, called “a short film for three pair of hands and three tables”, was awarded at festivals in Budapest, Paris and Toronto for best director, photography and music – three main aspects in De Mey’s work. Of his other films, two titles created in 2002 are also worth mentioning: “Silence Must Be!” and “Light Music”.
This Belgian artist uses various techniques and his own musical experience to fuse dance and film. He cooperates with such choreographers as Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Wim Vandekeybus, and his music works are performed by e.g. Arditti Quartet, London Sinfonietta, or Ensemble Modern.
The film will open the closing ceremony of IFF Etiuda&Anima, and right after the award ceremony we will be able to participate in the concert.
